Tara’s Favorites: Indian Restaurant

Okay I know it has been a hot minute since I posted but I’m seriously going to try to revive this blog. I won’t give you my excuses (full time job, plus part time job, plus freelance work, plus applying for grad school….right, no excuses, sorry), BUT I will promise that lots of content is coming soon!

One thing I’ve been hoping to do on here is to frequently update you with some quick posts telling you about some of my favorite things. So, without further ado, here’s the first: my favorite Indian restaurant!

I mentioned before that I studied abroad in London (post on that forthcoming) and I returned back in October (check out my Instagram to see pics from that trip!), and while I was back in good ol’ Londontown I visited one of my favorite spots for one of my favorite dishes: Chicken Tikka Masala from Woburn Tandoori.

Did you know that chicken tikka masala is actually eaten more often in England than fish and chips? There are many Indian restaurants in London that are very famous, very expensive, and probably very delicious, however, Iā€™m partial to Woburn Tandoori.

I was introduced to this hole in the wall when I was studying abroad in 2012. The instructor on my program was a big fan of the restaurant, holding a personal, sentimental bias for it. We ate here many times that semester, and I had to drag my family when we went back. Other deliciousness that I’ve tried includes mango lassi and chicken vindaloo, but I always find myself craving their chicken tikka masala with coconut rice all these years later ā€“ plus all of the papadums! Portion sizes are fairly large, so I always had some to take away for the next day, which is great when you’re a broke college kid. FYI, the rice and meats are separate dishes when ordering, so if you don’t want a bunch of leftovers maybe split things among your party.

A warning to those unfamiliar with London (as my family was): yes, it is pretty cramped inside the restaurant. Everything in London is! I suggest going for lunch on a weekday when no one is there if you tend to get claustrophobic. According to their website and they deliver and do take out, so there’s always that option, too – but I’m glad I didn’t know that when I was there, I probably would’ve ordered every day!

Check out Woburn Tandoori at 16 Woburn Walk, Kings Cross, London WC1H 0JL, UK, just across the road from Euston Station ā€“ and bring some back for me!!
